Editorial Standards

The GSD Breed Council Magazine maintains high editorial standards to ensure accurate, balanced, and respectful coverage of breed matters.

Content Guidelines

  • Accuracy: All factual claims must be verifiable and appropriately sourced
  • Balance: Contentious topics should present multiple perspectives fairly
  • Respect: Personal attacks, inflammatory language, and disrespectful commentary are not published
  • Relevance: Content must relate to German Shepherd Dogs or the wider dog community
  • Quality: Writing should be clear, well-structured, and appropriately edited

Photography Standards

  • Resolution: Minimum 300 DPI at published size (typically 2000 pixels on longest edge)
  • Focus and exposure: Images must be sharp, correctly exposed, and properly composed
  • Subject quality: Dogs should be presented in good condition, well-groomed, and appropriately posed
  • Copyright: Photographers must own copyright or have explicit permission to submit images

Rights and Permissions

By submitting content to the magazine, contributors:

  • Grant the GSD Breed Council non-exclusive rights to publish the material
  • Confirm they own copyright or have obtained necessary permissions
  • Accept that the editor reserves the right to edit submissions for length, clarity, or style
  • Understand that publication is not guaranteed and is subject to editorial discretion and space availability

Publication Schedule

The magazine is published monthly, with the following approximate timeline:

  • Submissions deadline: 15th of the month prior to publication
  • Editorial and layout: 16th-25th of the month
  • Printing: 26th-28th of the month
  • Distribution: 1st-5th of the following month

Example: Content submitted by 15th January will appear in the February issue, which subscribers receive early February.

For time-sensitive event coverage (major shows, significant announcements), please contact the editor to discuss expedited inclusion.
