Host Club Guide for Breed Survey

THE GSD BREED COUNCIL’S SURVEY GUIDE TO HOSTS

1. Application to hold a Survey must be made to the Breed Council secretary, preferably no later than 8 weeks prior to the event and must be in time to be advertised in the National Magazine or the dog papers.

The current entry form has BCSF160929 at the bottom of every page and can be downloaded from the link on the right of this page or from the "Downloads" page.

2. Applications that have been made by phone should be confirmed in writing giving details of date, venue, time, Surveyor, and contact details of Host Secretary or the person to contact for an entry form.

a. The Breed Council secretary will then advise on the down-loading of the current survey form.
b. On request the Host secretary will forward to the prospective entrant page 1 of the Survey form. This is the “entry form”.
c. On its return the entry form, having been duly completed and accompanied by the entry form, will be married with page 2, 3 & 4 and inserted in plastic envelope in readiness for the Survey.
d. When entrants have booked in at the Survey the Club will check that the required certificates are present and note clearly on the entry form any that are not. The entrants' plastic envelopes will be handed to them and will travel with them until given to the Surveyor.

a. VENUE: The Ring(s) should be 70ft by 70ft (approx. 540 square metres). If taking place in the open provision must be made for a covered area (e.g. small tent or gazebo) in each Ring for the taking of notes during the Survey.
b. MEASURING AREA: Should be in a dry location within reasonable distance from the Rings and have a hard, level surface.
c. MEASURING STEWARDS: Competent stewards will be required to assist, however the actual measuring must be done by the Surveyor.
d. MEASURING STICKS: SV approved.
e. MEASURING TAPE: Must be in centimetres.
f. *STARTING PISTOL: plus caps of the “short” variety must be available.
g. The measuring of dogs should commence at the start of Surveying and efforts should be made to ensure a constant flow of dogs throughout the day.
h. MICROPHONE if available.

5. ADMINISTRATION AREA: Must be under cover.

6. BEFORE EVENT ENDS:
a. Ensure that ALL survey Forms are collected from Surveyor after he/she has discussed the Survey with the owner.
b. Ensure Surveyor has signed form and filled in classification.

7. AFTER EVENT:
Return all forms in their plastic envelopes to Breed Council secretary along with correct fees.

* Clubs are advised to notify the Police before the event that a starting pistol will be in use.

CLUBS WISHING TO HOLD A BREED COUNCIL SURVEY SHOULD ASCERTAIN THE EXPENSES BEFORE EMBARKING ON A SURVEY. THE CHARGE MADE TO ENTRANTS MUST REFLECT THESE EXPENSES. THERE WILL BE A SURCHARGE OF £15-00 PER DOG SURVEYED TO BE PAID TO THE BREED COUNCIL TOWARDS THE COST OF THE CERTIFICATES, PUBLICATION PAGES WITH PHOTO IF PROVIDED ETC.
